KSTP-TV 5 Eyewitness News, the upper Midwest’s first commercial television station, is owned by the pioneering broadcasting company Hubbard Broadcasting, Inc. Channel 5 signed on the air April 27, 1948 and along with 45TV, remain the only locally owned and locally operated television stations in the Twin Cities. Eyewitness News is the station’s hallmark, presenting news, weather, sports and local programming daily for 5 Eyewitness News (ABC network affiliate) and its UHF sister station, 45TV (independent).
